Year 13 Struggling with biology thinking of dropping

Hello , I am currently struggling with a level biology not getting good marks in mocks. thinking of dropping the subject and continuing with 2 A levels. Not sure what impact this will have on my uni application. Happy to defer uni until the year after and maybe continue with another qualification, not sure if Btech is an option. The course I wish to pursue does not require Biology.

Hi @Bsir

Biology is a really hard A-Level! I found that I struggled with it but by putting a lot of work in I did manage to come out with a grade that I was really happy with.

It is really good that you are considering all of your options and looking ahead to university. I would recommend that you use the UCAS tariff calculator to calculate how many points you will get based on your predicted grades with and without biology. You can then compare this to the entry requirements for the universities that you are planning on applying to.

I would also recommend that you have an honest conversation with your teachers to let them know how you are feeling. You could potentially explore the option of doing an AS in biology rather than the full A-Level if you think this might be easier for you.

Hope that helps!
