Hi Everyone,

I thought this would be a nice page for all of us Edinburgh applicants to discuss our UCAT scores, interview prep and strategies, and overall prospects!

Hey people, has everyone managed to sign up to the EUCLID application portal for Edi? I got the first email saying that they would send me details of how to log in in the second email, but I still don't have a second email yet. Is this the same for anyone else?

No, I just meant the first email they send out confirming your application. I hadn't got it yet and everyone else I knew had, so I had to email them to get the details resent. It was just the one on how to log into the EUCLID portal.

Do you know how many interviews Edinburgh does?

As of last year, there were 1909 applications and then 839 interviews. Of these, 585 offers were given out with 290 students being placed.

Interestingly, there were almost twice as many female applicants than male applicants (1216 vs 673 female to male), this trend continuing in the number of interviews (564 vs 266 female to male) and the offers (383 vs 196 female to male).

I'll send a link to the document I'm getting the info from here, but as a general rule, if you are Scottish and get an interview at Edi, chances are you'll get in. For RUK and international applicants, the chances are much lower, and the ucat score needed is much higher.

I'll need to email too, as I haven't received my login details for EUCLID either! Did they respond to you quickly & has anything further arrived?

Yes, they responded pretty quickly, so it should be alright!

Do Plus Flag RUK candidate at Edinburgh Med School get interviewed sooner i.e. in November or at same time as other RUK or Scottish home candidates? Also, I take it that everyones assessment day will be in person?
Anyone else feeling really nervous?

I heard it directly from Edinburgh that there is no particular order for ucat, contextual etc. However, they do usually invite Scots to interview first.
I think this is the same for all Scottish uni's but i don't know much about St. Andrews.
Why the nerves?

Hello everyone! I'm a past applicant just wanted to wish you all luck.

Also on my part, last year I received the e-mail with my assessment day invitation on the 7th of November and all my friends received it around this day too.

We could chose our slot for the interview, although good slots (so those farther out lol) were taken quite fast, like within a few hours, so I wouldn't delay booking once you have your invite. My actual interview ended up being on the 3rd of December.

Everyone else was around the same time in December.

People from this round then got their offers before Christmas. It was all on the same day maybe a few weeks after but don't quite me.

However, I do know anecdotally that there was another round of interviews, after the first round of offers, I'm February/March time. The impression I got was that applicants with higher stats (so higher UCAT, grades, etc) were interviewed and offered first and then the second round happened.

This was just for last year and is just my experience as well, so it could change and I might have some things wrong, but thought it would be helpful so you guys have some information. Best of luck and hopefully you hear back soon!

Yeah usually invites to interview in November (I and others have gotten an email saying we will get an email deciding who to invite to interview on 14th of November, just not sure what date the actual interview will be on yet)

Wonder if we can choose dates or we're given a date for interview...I understand it's a half-day process including campus tour

When I was applying there was a list of dates that you could chose your preference from. There are morning and afternoons slots.

Would you rather have your interview earlier (early December for example), or later (late January-February) if you had the choice?

That sounds good. I'd like the choice too 🙂 Are you Scottish? I'm RUK, so wondering if it'll be a factor.

You know I've been thinking about this :-) . Ideally, I'd essentially want all interviews spaced apart & not clumped together too close (if I'm lucky enough to get interviews, that is)
