Dentistry applicant 2026 entry help on where to apply

Hi i’m not sure which dental schools i’m going to be able to get into now the final ucat deciles have been released

Stats:
GCSES: 9988887777 L2D L2D C in FSMQ
Alevels: AAA (might be able to get predicted to A*AA)
UCAT: 2110 band 2

Really want cardiff/ bristol but not sure due to high gcse / ucat cut offs. Im also looking into manchester and Birmingham. Don’t want to go to Ireland/ Scotland as too far

Congrats great stats

I’ve been doing a LOT of research so will try to help!

Cardiff, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds. Maybe Plymouth or QMUL. Further afield Glasgow, QUB. Do you have a good WEX and extras to make a good PS for Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds ? Could you get the a-levels predicted high for QMUL ?

Newcastle is a maybe, Manchester dodgy but theoretically possible with a b2. Birmingham no unless they go with a lower cut off than last year. Bristol no, not in a million.

When they say apply strategically, they really mean it. Dental schools select you, not you them. 😢😂

I have 3 days WEX in general dentists and 3 days in an orthodontist. I’ve also done bronze dofe, a gold crest in a dentistry topic, talked about my jewellery making and sewing hobbies, wider reading, talked about my part time job and playing netball in my ps so i’m hoping it’s stong enough.

do you think there’s any chance birmingham will have a lower cut off this year as i’ve been doing lots of research and I think it’s now my top choice if I have a possibility of getting in.

Hi heidi13180, 👋

It's great to hear of your interest in applying for dental school. Those are all great options and I'm sure you would be happy at any of them.

The dentistry courses at Sheffield (I have heard from close friends) are so enriching and rewarding, giving you access to state of the art facilities as well as opportunities to treat patients in real life settings through placements. If you would like more info on the dentistry courses at Sheffield, you can view the webpage here.

Alternatively, you can get in touch with one of our student ambassadors currently enrolled on a dentistry course via this link.

I wish you the best of luck in your studies! 😃

All best wishes,
Phoebe
