Feeling let down by my team

I was in the hospital and handed over some short tasks to my colleagues. They already had the resources they needed to complete them and reassured me with, “Don’t worry, Lucy, we’ll take care of things. Hope you feel better soon.”

When I returned, none of the work had been done. It wasn’t urgent, but what hurt more was that nobody even inquired about it or checked in with other people within the company. Honestly, I would’ve felt better if they’d just shown a bit of interest and at least spoken to someone.

What makes this harder is that whenever my teammates ask for help, I jump in straight away.

I thought they’d offer me the same support, especially while I was sick. But instead, I feel really let down, hurt and betrayed; they weren’t even busy with other projects on their end.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you deal with it?

Could you speak to your colleagues about it?
If not, could you not speak to a supervisor/line manager?

It happens a lot but you should not take it personally. Best to let them know of your disappointment and how let down you feel by it.
