A-levels for law

I picked A-level history, politics and art. I was wondering if I’m at a disadvantage compared to other applicants as I do not take 3 essay based/ traditional academic A-levels but want to aim for a top uni. Will art be an issue?

Hey!!

No, this won't disadvantage you. History and Politics are perfect examples of you demonstrating essay writing and transferable skills for law. Taking Art shouldn't be a problem- and it might help you stand out slightly from people taking three essay subjects? This isnt untraditional in the slightest, usually the general "rule" is that your third subject is just something you "enjoy" anyway.

There isnt really any specific A levels required for Law, and with two essay subjects you can still apply to top unis, so if you want to take Art, do it!!

The good thing about art is the flexibility - you are able to lead your coursework into the direction you want it to.

Take one of my friends for example! He took art as a 3rd A-level in addition to Biology and Chemistry; he ended up doing Medicine in UCL. I remember him basing his personal statement off of his independent medical research to support his art studies and coursework!
