Veterinary medicine entry requirements - Should I resit Bio (At a B)?

Hello!!

I'm applying for 2026 entry for Veterinary medicine at Nottinghams Preliminary and Lancashires 5 year and foundation course. During my gap year, I'm resitting GCSE Chem and Maths as I achieved grade 5s in these back in 2023.

For my A levels, I got A*AB, with a B in biology, and I did not take A level Chemistry- so I'm far from being a traditional applicant.

Im not sure whether I should resit A level Biology to aim for an A. At this point in time (with the unis I can apply to) It won't make any difference as without the Chemistry I can't apply anywhere else.

But I'm worried that since I am only applying to three universities, with two being foundation, that I won't get in this year.

This is why I briefly considered resitting biology so that now, or in my "second" gap year after being rejected, I can teach myself A level Chemistry, and get in through that process.

Or I could do an access to HE in the "second" gap year, as I'd be 19 at that point and be able to have access to the advanced learner loan- and be able to do it at a college.

I considered graduate entry through Lancashires 2 year bioveterinary course, but I'm not sure how funding for this would work.

Anyway- to sum up. Is it worth resitting it? Or should I wait and see how everything goes. I'm just worried that If I have to do A level Chemistry later on, that I'll regret not resitting biology now when I still remember most of the knowledge.

Thank you!! I hope this makes sense
