Gateway to Medicine 2026 Scotland

Hello,

Is anyone here planning on applying to gateway to medicine for the upcoming academic year at either Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen or St Andrew’s? I’m a bit concerned if whether I’ll receive an offer at Glasgow though as their admissions team for the med school doesn’t seem to respond at all and I achieved 5 B’s at higher (maths, chem ,physics , English, PE) , this year I’m doing 2 highers (biology and admin), retaking physics and I’m doing advanced higher maths. I was planning on doing advanced higher chemistry but my school didn’t offer me it as there was no spaces left, I qualify for REACH and Top-Up which will be completed this year and I took part in medic insight (program ran by Glasgow uni med students). Any chance of Glasgow putting forward an offer in your guys opinions?

Hi I'm in a similar situation too!!

You have 5 Bs at higher, and you have work experience. Considering gateway is usually for people that are unable to do all their highers in one go, or their highers go horrible you’re fine. Not to mention you’re taking three highers and an advanced higher, which automatically puts you ahead of the target gateway applicant. Just worry about your interview when inevitably you get one.

I was planning on doing the UCAT but seen no point tbh as i would only apply to gateway and only aberdeen and st andrews require it for progression to mbchb which you can do in the year when studying gateway or the summer before entry eg 2026 june diet

wait that does make sense, thank you bro but physics is a resit this year so i’m not sure if they’d care that much, who knows though they might just include it in the offer 🤷

Bro me too my original plan was to apply to dentistry but I’m considering gap after my results because I got AABBC and I done the UCAT and done so bad and I’m even having to crash higher physics bc my C in maths kinda messed everything up for me.

is there GATEWAY for dentistry though? i have a friend in a very similar situation where he got ABBBC (bio being the C) and he’s applying for dentistry directly since if he does exceptionally well in his advanced highers he would get an offer and he also got an average/low ucat aswell, in the 1800s.

Nah man not in Scotland pretty sure there is for England and stuff and ur friend can still apply and his ucat score is good but just tell him to look at the specification carefully I know someone in the same situation too as long as we all lock in this year ig
