Placement year between 2nd and 3rd year of LSE

I was thinking of applying for industrial placement year at companies and I checked LSE's guidelines, they say that if there's an "exceptional oppurtunity" that will impact learning that I could apply for an interruption in studies, but LSE seems to be very reluctant on this policy, they seem to only offer it to people with exceptional circumstances such as medical or family issues, and a placement year wouldn't seem like an emergent or serious reason to interrupt studies at first.

Has any LSE student been able to apply for this to be able to do a placement year (or a gap year anyways)?

LSE has a significant number of mature students as undergraduates from countries where military service is compulsory. That's when a gap year is justified or prior to commnecing study at the LSE for a BSc, BA or LLB.
