I need art gcse tips

ok its start of y10 im already behind on like my mindmap front page and 2 research pages cus i kept making excuses and missing my art book on purpose... does anyone know how i can guarantee a 9 for my art book (that's primarily why im stalling - i don't know what to do, we weren't told how to present our books nor shown the mark scheme) because i know i'm doing something wrong. my theme this year is transformation and i need examples for people who've gotten grade 9s or are in the same year as me.

Hey @cacababy,

My top Art GCSE tip is to watch GCSE sketchbook tours on YouTube. They'll give you ideas on both layout and new content you could possibly include.

A good way to increase the amount of content you have in your art book is to experiment with your use of materials - e.g. if you usually paint using acrylic paint, try painting using oil or watercolour instead and compare the results. Trying as many new mediums as possible is a great way to bulk out your sketchbook and show that you're willing to experiment - graphite, colouring pencils, oil pastels, soft pastels, tonal pencil and pen are all materials that are easily accessible and produce very different visual results.

Research is great and you should definitely keep it up throughout your sketchbook; however, make sure to include lots of your own drawings/paintings and first-hand photographs as well!

Hope this helps,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
