Does it make sense to get an Oyster student card?
Everyone is saying that having an Oyster card is unnecessary. What do you think?

Totally agree about the student Oyster card, but a regular one is still useful. The 18+ Student Oyster card only gives you discount on the season tickets, and it's only worth buying a season ticket if you're travelling peak time every Monday to Friday, plus doing at least one journey in the weekend. But if you're not at uni every day or you some of your journeys happen during off-peak hours (both of which are likely to be true), then a season ticket isn't generally worth it, even with the discount. Loading a 16-25 railcard onto a regular Oyster card is infinitely more useful because it gives you 1/3 discount on all off-peak fares, which actually is likely to save you a lot of money.
