Cambridge Vet Science

Hi everyone 😊

I’m preparing for a potential interview at Cambridge for Veterinary Medicine and would love some advice from anyone who’s been through it or knows what to expect. She’s been trying to post on here but can’t for some reason?

I’m trying to get a sense of the kinds of topics or questions that might come up—especially anything beyond the obvious.

Any help and advice would be really appreciated. 🙂

This isn’t relevant to your question, but I have to double check you are aware of the current accreditation issues around Cambridge? I don’t feel they have been particularly open on their website despite the widespread news reports on it

Yes, I am. They did address the issues at the open day. I’m also not 100% certain I’ll accept an offer yet, and obviously won’t if they don’t get full accreditation.

All good, just wanted to double check because I’ve spoken to a few people recently who weren’t aware of it

6th year Cambridge vet here- was a long time since I did my interview but here’s my advice!

Key thing I found was making sure that my A level biology and chemistry was really sharp- they ask questions that will require you to think and draw on what you know. If you’ve put down any cases or interests on your personal statement then be prepared to be grilled on them!

I don’t know whether they still do this but they asked me to list down what I had covered in my a levels so far so that they wouldn’t ask me about something I had no knowledge on so the questions will often be around building on what you know.

Also re the accreditation issue- we’ve had our revisitation and touch wood, it’s gone very well and I’d be very surprised if they didn’t give us our full accreditation back. I won’t go into details about it until we’ve had a final report just as I don’t want anything to get misunderstood, but the key point is that the vet school has made significant progress!
