Durham

I have heard lots of different rumours the main ones including that Durham solely looks at grades and not personal statements (or at least puts heavier emphasis on grades more than anything else.) I am applying for economics and whilst my grades meet the threshold, I am also a contextual applicant and so I would love to be reassured that my personal statements and references are taken int account. Worth noting that Durham was in clearing for econ this year. They obvs offered to students with very high predicted grades who then didn't achieve the entry requirements. Likewise Bath.

Hey, Durham does place strong emphasis on academic achievement, especially for competitive courses like Economics however, your personal statement and references absolutely do matter.

Admissions teams are trained to consider the full picture, and your background, experiences, and potential are all part of that. Your personal statement is your chance to show your passion for the subject, your motivation, and the unique perspective you bring. And references help reinforce that from someone who knows your journey.
