Hi,
I have been chasing for updates on my application for a while now, with some misleading information; I hope you can clarify what is happening and how to proceed.
I am an EU student (settled status) and I previously had undergraduate tuition fee loan for a course which I completed in June 2024. I have started PGCE course in September this year. My current application is not showing online, so I have to ring every time I would like to know whether there is an update.
I applied through the post 17/07/25 and was initially told no evidence was needed, but this later changed and I was asked to send proof of nationality and residency. I rang the helpline throughout multiple times, being given different timescales on each occasion; due to my application already taking longer than expected, I was told I could ask for referral as soon as my evidence was received. I was told today my evidence had been received and uploaded on 30/09/25 (despite another advisor telling me on 01/10/25 that there was nothing on my account and advising to send the same documents again); but that a referral could not be made as I needed to wait for the 17 working days to pass. This was contrary to what I was told before, and despite pointing out to financial hardship this is causing.
It seems every time I ring helpline I receive different information; this is really frustrating, and is unnecessarily increasing anxiety caused by delayed payments (my bursary is also on hold as it needs to be confirmed by a successful student loan application). Is there any way to speed the process at all? I have been waiting nearly 12 weeks now.
