Hi there,

At LSBU you have a few excellent routes into Urban and Environmental Planning. There’s the BA (Hons) Urban & Environmental Planning full-time degree, including a Foundation Year option if you need extra preparation. There’s also the Chartered Town Planner Apprenticeship, which combines working and studying, giving you hands-on experience in planning while you gain the academic credentials. All of these are taught in LSBU’s Southwark campus in London, which means you’re studying in one of the most rapidly evolving urban contexts in the country and very close to employers in both the public sector (local government, councils) and private planning consultancies.

One of the biggest pluses is that LSBU’s Urban & Environmental Planning degree is professionally accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). That’s important because RTPI accreditation helps ensure that the course meets industry standards, and it usually gives graduates a more direct route to becoming chartered planners. The Apprenticeship route is also fully RTPI accredited.

In terms of reputation, the course scores well in student satisfaction surveys, for example, students rate the teaching and learning opportunities very highly in the National Student Survey. Also, LSBU is one of the more established planning schools, they have been running accredited planning courses for over 50 years.
