can i get into LSE with mid-bad gcses??

hiii i’m a year 13 student who really wants to study law at lse!! everyone is telling me to not bother applying as u need perfect stats to get in. whilst my recent stats r good (A*A*A* predicted and AAAA in AS) my gcses are lacking (i got 988777664). i think i may still have a chance as i wrote my PS according to the lse guide so it checks all of their criteria and am trying to score 30+ on the lnat. i was just wondering if i have a chance at getting an offer?

Definitely have a chance. What was the 4 in if you don’t mind me asking. 6 GSCEs at A and above is good and if you achieve your predicted it just shows you improved academically. I’m not gonna say it’s guaranteed because there are other factors, but your grades look fine.

I am essentially in the same boat in terms of grades, with only 1 GCSE being different - I've been told that I am competitive; therefore you will be. Good luck to you and I hope to see you at LSE in the near future!

Nah if its a language its totally fine, most unis have no interest in a language unless its relevant to what you want to study

what about a 3 in fine arts? overall GCSEs are 88777663 though with mitigating circumstances. AAA in AS and A* A* A* predicted for A Levels

should be fine. Either way, don't worry about it, you can't change it and other parts of your application are much more important

I heard they just flat out reject for gcses though. Like all that effort just to be docked for smth years ago

Yeah they can reject for GCSEs I think. If one of your 6s is in maths you most likely will be flat out rejected, for example. However, If the rest of your application is stellar, you won't be rejected for your GCSEs (probably)

I feel like you definitely do!! Those GCSE’s are not bad at all, if you go to a public school they are way above average

sorry for the late reply, it’s debatable, anything lower than a 4 I would say probably not, but if the circumstances are strong it definitely helps

if this is your dream uni definitely apply, just be aware that if you get rejected that will most likely be the reason why
