FOR THE ATTENTION OF ANYONE THAT WADED THROUGH HMK'S RANTS WITHOUT DISMISSING THEM AS CLEARLY SILLY:
I hereby support the opinions of eveyone that HMK disagreed with. HMK's assertions are deliberately vague and worrying ('OMG YOU CHEATED' shows little understanding of the difference between conferring to understand other people's unique take on a problem and copying an answer verbatim). HMK's best arguments have even been reduced to 'you disagree so...you don't exist!' .
I will be happy to clear up any misunderstandings of worries people may have based on HMK's flailing attacks.
Because Aula browbeated them into making the accounts (or actually made the accounts herself):
nope, that was a completely different person. The group who wrote out that post came and told me they'd done it afterwards, looking very proud of themselves.
There's a new user called cheesecake-the-llama who's the only one I've convinced to join. But anyway, I digress
Worries that maybe I won't be entirely suited to Durham's teaching, but I don't really have any way of telling until I actually try it. That's mostly it. :-P
I quote Skelton in saying that your advice is in breach of university regulations; problems are to be completed individually. I did attend most lectures for first term before anyone argues here, I gave up in 2nd term. If you are admitting to cheating at your degree, may you put your name here so you can be reported and end up leaving the university. As for first year not counting, if you want an internship/ lie on the boundary then they really count.
I got caught 'cheating' on the weekly problems in second year. They don't ask you to leave the University, we (the person I was caught with and I) were brought before the board of examiners. They gave us a slap on the wrists and told us not to do it again.
I quote the head of the board of examiners as saying 'Girls, it is OK to work together on the weekly problems to figure out the method, it is not OK to directly copy each others answers with no understanding. I suggest next time you work together, but when it come to actually writing down the answers, you go away and do that separatly'
Hardly being asked to leave the university.
Also, while I have your attention, with the other guy, the NatSci, who made the really long post, in it claiming that 'work hardly ever interfered with my social life, apart from around exam times' and you outright called him a liar, can I ask, how the hell would you know how much of a social life this guy had?
Personally I agree with him, work hardly interfered with my social life either.

Oh great - further reasons why any Physics dept summative mark cannot be trusted. As if we needed more.

It would be helpful if they bothered to communicate that to their students. Preferably in writing. I got told by someone in the dept that collaboration is not allowed.

Still on your file - not something I would particularly want.

Very slow. Just wait, and they will get back to you eventually and you don't have to make any decisions until they do.
I know they will do, it's just annoying now Not that I even really want to go there anyway. Well, I do, but it's just way too far away from home, especially because my gran's really ill right now
