Aggressive hugs

Recently I started noticing more and more that guys hug their girlfriends a bit aggressively. I mean when they put their arm around their shoulder it looks like a sign of dominance. When they hug when they meet it looks more like they squish them...

Do you girls really enjoy that?
I personally feel like it's something I wouldn't say threatening but at least i'd feel uncomfortable with that.
There were situations when my boyfriend hugged me aggressively but it was more for protection,,,

I can't speak for all women, but I don't think it's enjoyable as such. What I've found is that guys grew up playing more rough than most girls, so sometimes they kind of just don't realise that they're being rough/aggressive. My last boyfriend was genuinely just always happy to see me, and he didn't realise that he was holding me too strongly. Obviously that won't be the case for all of guys though, and sometimes it might be a jealousy or protective thing, but that's something for both partners to talk about. Equally, if your partner does it, and you don't want him to, you should tell him.

to be fair it really depends. i completely get that some guys hug their girls quite aggressively to assert dominance, but some guys are just genuinely tight huggers. my bf for example is a really sweet gentle guy and his hugs are always incredibly tight and sometimes he'd just hug me for minutes on end really tightly - i don't think that's asserting dominance! so yes you are totally right but i just wanted to point out that there are different guys and therefore different styles of hugging, and not all of them may be just 'asserting dominance' if that makes sense. your concern is totally valid though and some guys do just care about being 'manly' and showing off.

and yes in my case i do really enjoy tight hugs from my bf (although honestly if any other guy tried to hug me i'd just push them away lol)

Yeah, it's just an observation from the side... the guys I've been with were not showing dominance (not this way at least). Guy friends does that sometimes, but it's more like the same they do with each other... (and even that I dislike).
