Aunt is seriously ill.
Always works for me.

[though by now my employer must be wondering how many aunts I have.]

Enough

OP, just come up with some sort of incident or something.
I don't know? I know it does for me. I don't get paid for bank holidays if I'm sick around the time.
I'm not sure what you're asking so I'll answer all possibilities.

You won't get paid for your sickie.
Your average pay for your "4 weeks" will be affected i.e. if you work 2 days a week for 52 weeks, you'll get holiday pay for 8 days. If you take your sickie, you'll have worked 103 days, so you'll get holiday pay for 7.92 days. So.. probably lose £2 or something.

"I have diarrhoea -I'm on the toilet right now" should work as an excuse.

Is this specific for McDonalds or do you mean generally?

Because I get paid for my sick days and my holiday time-off, though the former wasn't specified in my contract.

Are you sure you get holiday pay?
I work at McDonald's too, and I'm pretty sure I don't.

If you do, I doubt a sick day will affect it, though you have to be convincing. You won't get paid though, I'm afraid. You're only paid for the hours you're clocked in unless you're a manager I think.

Get to work you lazy, idle sponger. No wonder we're called Sicknote Britain. You ought to be sacked and cast asunder while somebody more deserving fill in your slot, probably somebody with lots of work experience and qualifications in today's financial environment where jobs, of whatever description, are hard to come by.

Get to work, earn your keep, be proud to have a job unlike 2.5 billion people, and stop asking people on TSR to give you excuses you complete waster.

Well baseline there is no law for being paid for sick days, and therefore most places won't give you it, although you are supposed to get some financial support through long term illnesses. However, your company may provide this, but I'm pretty sure McDonalds won't be one of them (even Greggs didn't, and they are really worker friendly and union based).
Jessaay!

It's illegal not to receive holiday pay. You should get 4 weeks based on an average (or predicted average if you take all 4 weeks early in the financial year) working week for you.
Some companies try and get around this by giving the average (including sick days) in March/April, meaning you won't get paid while you're on holiday but you will get it at the end of the financial year. You can claim back payments for up to 5 years of unpaid holiday.
If you don't take any holiday, you are still owed that 4 weeks worth of pay.

You need to get claiming!
