Hello I was thinking of buying a iPad for uni I’m currently using my laptop but I struggle carrying it around campus since it’s very heavy. Do u think I should buy an iPad if so which iPad? Are there any websites that also accept student discount for it

Hi,

If you’re thinking of getting an iPad for uni, the iPad Air is a great choice. It’s lightweight, portable, and reliable enough for annotating lecture slides, digital notes, and completing assignments.

You can also get education savings if you buy through the Apple Education Store, which gives a student discount on the iPad Air. They often include a voucher that you can use to buy accessories such as the Apple Pencil or AirPods.

You can check it out here https://www.apple.com/uk-edu/shop/buy-ipad

Hope this helps,

You'd be fine to get the base iPad.

The iPad Air used to be the go-to option for a portable iPad back when the base model was a chonk, but these days the're equally portable- the Air is less than a millimetre thinner and the weight difference is less than a Freddo chocolate bar. They also both have the same display quality, Type C connectivity and very similar battery life. The Air does have advantages like a more powerful processor, extra cameras and anti-glare coating on the display, but if it's just for a study tool they're all relatively inconsequential additions and it nearly doubles the price.
