A lot of people in Scotland use Clelland Maths, he covers SQA papers but I’m sure it will be similar to gcse!

hi, i went up from a 7 to a 9 in year 11 so hopefully i can help a bit

my method of revising was do a past paper, mark it, and then identify any questions i couldn't do. i would go on maths genie and do as many questions of the topics i couldn't do, until i was getting them consistently right. i then repeated that with past papers, continually identifying and tackling weak spots

i also liked to use corbettmaths 5-a-day to make sure i was constantly reviewing all the topics. the best way to get better at maths, in my opinion, is to just keep doing questions - the more, the better.

i hope this helps, do ask if you have any questions, and best of luck <3

Hey @itslulu_xx,

I would definitely recommend watching GCSE Maths revision videos on YouTube; figure out which topics you struggle most with and then watch walkthroughs on how to answer those types of questions. Once you feel a bit more confident in your overall ability, start trying to answer past paper questions.

If you need help figuring out which topics you're weakest on, either look over your previous exams and note which type of questions you lose marks on frequently or read through the GCSE specification to see which topics seem unfamiliar.

Hope this helps,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

I went from getting low 30% in exams to an 8 in my actual GCSE, and that did NOT come easy. I had to put in a lot of effort throughout the year.
What I did was this:

Watch video walkthroughs from GCSE Maths Tutor (or Maths Genie if preferred).

When they show a question, pause the video and try to solve it yourself.

Unpause and skip to the end to check your answer. If correct, move on to the next question. If wrong, rewatch the video for that question to understand the method.

Write down why you got a question wrong on a post-it note, e.g., “Q5 June 2019 paper 1 walkthrough.” Make sure to review these notes later.

Repeat until you finish the walkthrough and take a break after finishing.

Either revise another subject or focus on topics you struggled on using Maths Genie. For me I used maths genie to learn the topic for the first time, and then watched GCSE maths tutors videos

Use the same watch-pause-solve-check method for these topics.

Do practice questions on each topic, then mark them yourself. I used maths genie to help me learn the basics, then did some on 1stclassmaths and then exam q

Rank your confidence on each topic after practice.

Test yourself on previously difficult walkthrough questions again.

Track each topic’s date in a spreadsheet to monitor progress and ensure that you review it.

I hope this helps!!

Do corbett maths 5aday every day for the grade your working at and the next one. Only takes 25 mins a day. When you get stuck on a question go on maths genie and do the questions there and watch the videos that explain what to do. Once you get close to mocks and GCSEs do past papers. This method got me from a 5 to an 8.
