Hii I'm also in year 11 and I'm planning to go to Later, LAST or Woodhouse too 💀 I got 8,7,7,D2(7),6,6,6,6,5 in my year ten mocks. Honestly, you're not. I also wonder whether I'm getting too far ahead but just fit in revision and focus in class and I promise you'll get there!! <3

Hi, not to be rude in any way, but if you're aiming at LAE (I assume you mean stratford not tottenham), you're going to need to massively improve your grades. The entry requirements are At least 8 GCSE 9-7 including English Language and Maths. Right now, based off your mocks, you only have 7, and coupled with the fact that there are no grade 9s and only three grade 8s, you won't be an attractive candidate to get an offer (and trust me it gets infinitely harder to get in if you dont get an offer). If you want to get an offer I'd say aim to do as well as you can in these upcoming mocks and you should be aiming to meet the entry requirements and have a top 8 APS of at LEAST 8.0.

I appreciate you being statight with me. I was actually aiming for the Tottenham one because its closer to my house. Will they take predicted grades into consideration??? If I apply with my predicted grades will that still be OK, beacuse my predicted mostly 8 but still no 9s, but I getting my new ones in a month and I'm really sorry for asking, what's an APS??

I appreciate all your help

All sixth forms you apply to will be using your predicted grades to determine entry, and your predicted grades will be based on your year 10 and year 11 mocks.
LAET has easier entry requirements than LAES, being Five GCSEs at grade 9-7, and at least a grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics and English Language, so you fit those requirements, although there's still room to improve if you want to guarantee an offer.
I know less about LAET since I attend LAES, but I know that LAET also holds an interview, which could help your application if your grades aren't perfect.
Your APS (Average Point Score) is the mean average of all of your grades. Most schools only use your best 8 grades for your APS.

I'm happy to answer any other questions

Unfortunately I can't talk about the atmosphere at LAET since I don't go there, but the academic attainment is very high, so I'd assume the students there are hard-working at the least.

Can you tell me what LAES is like???
I haven't actually researched it but now I kinda want to apply for both, just to try my luck 😅
Sorry for asking so much questions

Honestly (trying to minimise my bias here), I genuinely think LAES is the best sixth form in the country. In terms of grades, we're second only to Brampton (barely), and beyond that we have some of the best extracurricular opportunities (e.g. I travelled to Eton with my form class, I'm already on a few Oxbridge programs etc). Additionally, the people here are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and there's a lot of support in terms of mental health. The school focuses on making sure that you push yourself, but always keeps your wellbeing in mind (for example, if we ever spend more than a few hours on homework they'll tell us to stop and take a break, and the teacher will try to reduce the amount that they set). Moreover, while they focus on pushing you academically, there's a lot of support outside of the curriculum to make sure that you're informed on where you want to go post-sixth form, and what career you want to pursue. A great example of this is our futures assemblies we have once a week, where we have companies like Meta (Facebook) and VLK (Banking firm) come in to give talks about what it is they do and what a career at their company would entail. They also have great partnerships with lots of firms (e.g. Law) to get students work experience in Year 12. There's infinitely more I could say but I feel like you get the point.

Don't be afraid to ask more if you still have any questions!

It depends a lot on if you get an offer, and what subjects you want to take. I will say that for your cohort entry should be quite a bit easier since LAES will be taking in a lot more year 12s next year due to us moving to our new building. Here's my advice though:

(If you get an offer)
If you want to take humanities - Just meet the entry requirements and you should be fine, grade requirements on these arent too strict
If you want to take STEM - These are a LOT more competitive, aim for an APS of around 8.0 for your top 8, even if you get an offer

(If you don't get an offer)
If you don't get an offer it depends a lot on what subjects are free, but I know people who didn't get offers and got in on the day for the subjects they wanted. You'd need exceptional grades for this if you want to do STEM (mostly 8s and 9s), again humanities will be more relaxed on the requirements.

My stats were as following (for Maths, Politics, Economics, Philosophy):
Predicted - 99888887 (8.1 APS)
Achieved - 99988877 (8.1 APS)

Keep in mind, what I've said is mostly the minimum requirements, a large portion of my year group is people who got all 8s and 9s, including people who got crazy grades like 10-13 grade 9s and chose to come here, so work as hard as you can and be prepared to work even harder if you get here, otherwise don't bother applying.

this year, these schools were heavily oversubscribed and students who got 8s and 9s like myself were even rejected from these top sixth forms due to the amount of students who did exceptionally well in gcses so please consider applying to as many back up schools as you can so that enrolment day doesnt become stressful!
