Funding for another PGCE?

Hi all,

Last year, I asked about funding for a second PGCE but with a QTS however, after attending a fair at my current university for my masters, I may be put in a tricky position. Essentially, I could only find vague guidance for teaching with disabilities. At the fair, Get into Teaching said that I can't be discriminated but couldn't speak on behalf of placements. Spoke to a head of some acadamies and he basically said that if my disability prevents me from doing every day and not have to leave early due to my disabilities, I shouldn't do a QTS as I wouldnt be a good teacher. Big yikes...

So yeah, I've been planning to do a QTS for a near 2 years and now its boiled down to "i cant do primary nor secondary because my disabilities get in the way". Yuck.

To the main point, I've done a PGCE in SEND and that year worked out REALLY well! FE and HE are more flexible and understanding. But there isnt much SEND related things out there. However, there is for maths.

So, if I wanted to do a PGCE in Maths, would I be able to get any funding?

And if there's anything that I've been told regarding placement accommodations for a QTS that are completely wrong, please let me know 🙏

It's not a direct answer to your question, but have you considered teaching in FE or HE instead if they suit your needs better?

As a bonus, I don't know if your PGCE would meet the criteria, but there are a large number of L5+ teaching qualifications that are accepted for professional formation to QTLS the adult education equivalent of QTS. A few years back it was ruled to be equivalent to QTS so once you have it, you can apply to maintained state schools as a fully qualified teacher. It's a bit unconventional, but it would save you a year at uni. It takes 6 months to a year to achieve, and costs a few hundred pounds, but you need to be employed (even part time) as a teacher while you're doing it. You can work in any 16+ education setting including private training providers (but you do need a qualified sponsor within the same organisation or you did last time I checked).
