Hi,
I’m part of a society too! For Scratch Radio, I’m the Participation, Inclusion, and Social Officer.
When it comes to applying for a role like Social Sec, my best advice is to just be yourself — honest, enthusiastic, and full of personality. Make sure you really highlight all your strengths, especially anything that shows you’re sociable, organised, and creative. It’s such a fun role, but it can also be quite full-on at times, so showing that you can balance the fun side with being reliable and proactive will really make you stand out.
Think about any experience you’ve had planning events, bringing people together, or getting others involved — whether that’s from uni, work, or even outside activities. Those examples show that you’ve got the skills to make society life exciting and inclusive for everyone.
Most importantly, be confident and have fun with it! If your personality shines through, people will see that you’d be amazing in the role.
Good luck — I’m sure you’ll smash it!
Best, Maya BCU Student Rep
