I barely speak english, and that's my first language 🤣. Mi provis lerni aliajn lingvojn, sed neniam havis la fidon daŭrigi ilian studadon. But when I start Esperanto, I had a boom in confidence, and I've actually gotten myself to do daily practice.

mi amas lingvojn. mi ne ofte parolas esperanton.
i'd say languages are my passion haha. i speak spanish fluently, do Irish to a B1 level. I used to do latin to a high level but dropped it last year. i like italian & catalán, but they're just for interest and i have no real skill in them

I can only do Esperanto reading and writing to an adequate level, I still need to practice my speaking and listening lol. I love languages too, I just hate studying stuff! I intend to take Russian or Italian lessons at university, I'm applying to UEA to do Geophysics, kaj mi vere antaŭĝojas pri ĝi! Are you going to uni or are you already there?

Oh I can't speak at all lol
God no same, I learn most of my languages off the TV tbh
Geophysics, tio sonas interese
I'm still in Y13, so I'll go late 2025. I'll probably study a languages course haha! Spanish & Irish for the degree and chinese course outside of that 🤞

Chinese looks amazing, that and Japanese. We humans operate beter with pictographic scripts, that's why early alphabets are so good.

Have you learned any other scripts? I actually can't read much of Chinese or Japanese, but learned the Arabic, Greek Cyrillic, Russian Cyrillic, Devanagari and Hangeul scripts lol

I basically spent my entire childhood inventing scripts of hundreds of characters lmao, just normie kid stuff you know. I can read Cyrillic, but have no chance on earth of knowing most of the words lol

wouldn't it be so easy if we all just spoke the one language?? maybe we should all just return to our cavemen ways of just grunting to make sense. You get what I mean? I mean... uh-oom bah gooo
I have never studied Esperanto in my life, but I'm amazed to be reading this thread and for the most part getting the general gist of what is being said.

You should give Esperanto a go, Duolingo has a course on it and it is so EASY, once you get the grammar, which is so simple, all you'll end up needing to do form there is just learn words, and the saying is that when you learn one word in Esperanto, you know 20, because you just add and remove bits from it. Italian and Spanish and French can take 1100-2000 hours to be somewhat proficient, Esperanto takes just 150 hours! It's that easy, 150!!!
