Access to higher education

Hi, I'm 18. My college enrolled me in an access course, but now they've asked me to leave due to my age and results. I'm four weeks into the course, and it's too late for me to apply to other colleges. They're telling me to reapply when I'm 19, which I will be in two weeks, but I'll have to wait until the next academic year, in which I'll be turning 20. This is because I don't have functional skills. I showed my results and uploaded them, and now they're telling me it's my fault, and my only choice is to do a Level 2 Health and Social Care course or leave. My aim is to become a solicitor, and while I know Health and Social Care is a route for law, it wasn't what I wanted to do. I'm so confused about what I should do, as I am stuck.

Hi, Im so sorry this has happened to you, I would recommend contacting your local councils education department, you can usually find all this information on their website if you goggle [your councils name] education department contact details. They will able to provide you with further guidance and any appeals if eligible, they would be best placed and authorised to support you on practical next steps, please don't worry im doing law and did a btec in health and social care, we also have many mature students here at Reading and have support for them (also I did a foundation year so I am starting my main degree a bit later too), if you have any other questions relating to university please don't hesitate to reach out and I hope this gets sorted for you and this has helped
Kind Regards,
Sid
