A portfolio is typically not needed as part of the application process for the undergraduate Journalism course at UAL. The UAL portfolio advice page states that, "To help us assess your application, we may ask you to upload a portfolio of your work and/or a video task or self-tape which are submitted via PebblePad. Your specific course page will tell you exactly what you need to submit. You must upload your portfolio and/or video task or self-tape by the deadline we give you."

You are not required to submit a portfolio unless the journalism course specifically requests one. Instead of a creative portfolio, the journalism application usually concentrates on your academic credentials and personal statement. For the most recent requirements, it's a good idea to visit the course page or get in touch with admissions.

For more updated information, please check out this page: https://www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/journalism-pr-media-and-publishing/undergraduate/ba-hons-journalism-lcc#course-summary

Please note that the course is currently undergoing re-approval. (to ensure the course continues to provide a high quality academic experience) During re-approval there may be some changes to the course content displayed on this page. If you have course specific questions, you may click on the yellow “contact us” box from the above link where you will be asked to fill in your name and email in the form,

Meanwhile, Please get in touch if you have any more questions on the course / student life! I wish you all the best in your application and preparation process!

thank you! Can i ask how many hours of study there are per week? i will need a part time job to get by, and if im expected to come in everyday, this might not be possible for me.

No problem at all! It’s a full-time course, and they expect about 40 hours of study each week. Only part of that consists of scheduled classes. Contact hours usually take place over several days, while the rest is independent work you can often arrange more flexibly around a job.

(Unless you’re an international student, in which you are expected to study a certain amount of hours) I have attached a link to the UK VISA webpage on student VISA here:

UAL also has an attendance check-in system, so it's important to be present when sessions are scheduled. The specific number of days and hours can change each year. It's best to check directly with the Journalism course team for the most reliable timetable information.
