URGENT help please!! Vet med GCSE retakes without Predicted Grades

Please help- I'm really stuck!!

I emailed my Careers Advisor beginning of September (at my previous school as I'm taking a gap year) about not having predicted grades for my GCSE retakes in Chemistry and Maths. And she told me that everything should be okay.

Yesterday she emailed asking for my predicted grades- because she's suddenly not so sure if I need them or not. Its a few days before the deadline- I've neglected GCSE prep for work experience and applications and I haven't had any mock exams.

For context: I've applied for University of Lancashire's foundation & 5 year course, University of Nottinghams Preliminary course and two different courses. I originally recieved Grade 5s in GCSE Chem and Maths.

Will not having predicted grades in my reference affect my chances of getting an offer? I spoke to a UCAS advisor this morning and he said Universities are used to not having predicted grades from school leavers- but given the competitive nature of vet med I am really really worried.

If I do mock exams it would be AFTER the deadline towards the end of this month, and if I need to have the private exam centre send the grades individually to Unis, its £30 per email which is pretty astonishing.

Please can I have some advice- it feels like I'm wasting a year of my life just because I didn't pay £140 for mock exams.

Thank you!!

Hi,
Have you rang the admissions department for each uni to see what they advise ?

Hi @MikaylaLC,

It's great to hear to hear that you have applied to study Vet Med with us. I would suggest following @unilancashire_vets on Instagram to get an insight into the course but you could also message the account as the vet social media team may have more information or direct you to speak to someone.

It's great that you spoke with UCAS today, I do believe that is the case too but I would suggest asking our admissions team if you are wanting further advice. You could get in touch with our admissions team via Contact us

Feel free to ask any further questions 🙂
Best wishes, ^Zac

Hi!

For some reason this never crossed my mind until you mentioned it. I called the admissions office for the Unis and they all seemed optimistic that it should be okay! This really made me feel less stressed.

Thanks for your help!
