Does dental school provide no school-life balance

I’m currently in year 12 and studying biology, chemistry, maths and planning to do an EPQ on something to do with dental hygiene or clinical practices as it has always interested me and gives a chance to research it before I settle on it. I see videos of people only getting 10 minutes of sleep and crashing out over it from the beginning. Is it really that bad?? I know it’s extremely demanding both physically and mentally and am okay with that, but I don’t want to sacrifice my whole life to the point where I get less than an hour of sleep…

YouTube is hardly reliable evidence is it - and do you think they might be just winding you up.

im in first yr dent lowkey some topics idk what im doing, and after a 9-5pm lectures i just wanna sleep and not do anything. some lecturers r pretty bad and just read off the slides, no idea what theyre teaching so need to self learn. im only like 3 weeks in first yr so havent experienced "no sleep yet. if u survive dental school u wont be sacraficing ur whole life if u successfully become a dentist? im not sure what u meant by that

I meant that I want to study but still have family time… like not studying 24/7. Maybe I worded it weirdly.

i see i think it depends on how well u prioritise your time, some ppl can study effectively while maintaining a social life and family time, obviously dentistry is a tough course, but i'd say dont let this put u off
