Not notified SFE that I have unenrolled

I was enrolled at a University this year and scheduled to attend and my Student Finance was all set up. However, I later decided I didn’t want to go to university this year so asked the university to release me which they did. However, a week later I ended up getting my first Student Finance payment and my SFE account still says I’m enrolled at the university.

Does this mean SFE will not catch on that I withdrew and I have to tell them myself or will they eventually find out? If so, when? It’s been over two weeks now.

I am guessing that you haven't contacted Student Finance. Having looked on the SFE website, it says -

How to stop your student finance payments
You must:

•

tell your university or college that you’re leaving or suspending your course

•

contact Student Finance England if you’re a student from England

The way to make contact is different if you’re a student from Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Contact:

Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS)
Student Finance Wales
Student Finance Northern Ireland

If you suspend your studies you can usually postpone your student finance payments until you return.

You can contact us on live chat and we can update your account temporary, as we will need this information from your university. If you contact the university and ask them to update us as soon as possible.
