A levels

Hi,
In August I received quite poor results for my AS exams (I'm from Wales). This was BDE in bio, maths and chemistry. However I am also doing my welsh bacc which counts as an extra a level, and the unis I want to apply to will count it in lieu of an a level (I want to study biology/ biological science). I am also eligible for most if not all contextual offers. My question lies in that I've been thinking about dropping chemistry and using welsh bacc as my 3rd a level, this would make my predicted grades higher and I would have a better chance at getting those grades rather than just scraping them by to get them and maybe meeting my offers (I haven't applied yet I just mean in the context that I could get offers, but I still need to meet them and get those grades.) I've reached out to many unis and they all confirmed they would accept welsh bacc and that this would also not impact any potential future post grad study either (at that point they all want a Bsc). However I was wondering how much would this impact my future in terms of getting a job etc.?
Looking forward to hearing any advice or thoughts, thanks

Hi I don’t think this would effect your future jobs once you’ve done a degree, in job interviews they rarely look at grades just the fact that you did a relevant degree or even just relevant job experience. 4 alevels are really hard to do so if you think dropping one would help your overall grades then that could be a really good option, I would recommend speaking to your tutor or teachers first though as they know you best and can give you tailored advice to you and how they think this would benefit you.

Hope this helps,

Hi, thank you for your reply, this helps a lot. My teachers all understand and get this, this is quite common in my college to do 2 a levels + welsh bacc and i’ve emailed a few unis and all confirm they’ll accept it. I’m also waiting results from my first assessments as i feel those will show me what kinds of grades I’m getting after my revision currently.
Thanks for the advice!!
