to do silver mirror test by adding Ammoniacal silver nitrate solution to the carbonyl compound solution, do I have to warm the mixture in order to get the silver mirror?? thanks!

im not sure what u r doing. in aldehyde, Tollens reagent will give a silver mirror on gentle heating if aldehyde.

ammonical silver nitrate is also the test for NaBr/NaCl/NaI as it forms diff precipitates

i mean to do the silver mirror test, do I just add the ammonical silver nitrate to the carbonyl, no need to warm it?

if itw what im talking about yes. put in warm waterbath 50-70F until precipitate evolves n of silverrr
