Anyone applying for Development Studies / International Development (2026/27)?
Hi everyone! 👋
I haven’t seen many threads for Development Studies or International Development applicants for the 2026/27 cycle, so I thought I’d start one.
I’m applying for the MPhil Development Studies at Oxford and Cambridge, and also looking at LSE and SOAS. It feels like such a niche course, I haven’t found many people applying, and I’m definitely feeling a bit behind with everything 😅
Would love to hear from anyone applying for similar courses this year! Where are you applying, and what’s your background or area of interest? (e.g. sustainable development, gender policy, migration, inequality, etc.)
It’d be nice to have a little group to update each other as we go through the cycle!

Hello!
A great way to meet people is to come on campus and meet other applicants. At SOAS, we have our Postgraduate Open Days on 4 December 2025 and 4 March 2026. I would highly recommend you sign up, to meet some of the department and students and also have a look around campus.
If you would like to personally speak to a Professor from the Development Studies department (outside of Open Days), you can DM me your email address and I will put you in contact with a member of staff to organise a meeting and a personalised campus tour.
