Reapplying to LSE/UCL

I recently achieved 3 A*s in my A levels this summer in maths, economics and geography and 999998876 in my GCSEs. im currently studying at the university of Edinburgh for pure economics, but im thinking about reapplying to LSE and UCL for either economics and politics or management/management science because I've always wanted to go to uni in London.

I couldn't apply for pure economics as I do not take further maths (which was the reason I got rejected from both last application cycle).

I was wondering if it is worth it to reapply considering I will have to change my whole personal statement (because the format has changed from last year and also because im no longer applying for just pure economics)? and also would doing pure economics at Edinburgh be better than doing one of the above courses at either LSE/UCL? any advice or tips would be appreciated

Two issues here. Firstly, not being committed to a degree subject and not having a clearly focussed PS may mean you don't get an offer for any of your choices, and secondly, you really do need to get over the 'London' fixation. These Unis are not 'better', however you think you can measure that, and the glamour of being in London will likely wear thin. And its a very expensive, and not especially safe, place to live. Think carefully about why you want to go to Uni - its the course/subject that you will study every day for the next 3 or 4 years, not the buildings.

Hi, it’s the same person here just a different account. Yeah I see what you mean about not having a clear degree focus, however I am drawn to both courses for different reasons and I just want to choose the one that will open the most doors for me in the future. I understand that the London unis aren’t ‘better’, but I have loved London as a city for my whole life and I also think living there will open up more opportunities for my future and my career than being in Edinburgh will. In terms of the expense, my parents have been supportive of my potential application to London so I have considered that as well. I’m just not really sure on my chances of either course and I also am having trouble deciding which one I’d prefer to do. Thank you for your response!

Personally, I'm not sure it's worth the hassle when you're already attending the University of Edinburgh (an amazing uni).

Living in London will not necessarily improve your job/career prospects, either. Completing work experience, internships, and even volunteering will be what helps you build your career.

And, after doing your degree you can still move to London if you feel the job market there is better.
