Advice on Uni Choices/Application

I am in a weird situation though. I am a home student but am on Scholarship in China, so travel to go to in-person interviews is pretty impossible (unless they fall in the window during Chinese New Year when I am back, otherwise I would have to fork out an extra £1000 to travel, deal with jetlag, and mess with my other deadlines/exams). I know most interviews are online now, other than Southampton (which I asked about special circumstances if I was to do Medicine for Interview and they couldn't really help).

For Southampton, you should probably check how they consider international applicants for medicine. Surely, they dont expect everyone to travel.

I guess but I also dont want to be considered as international due to the fees and extra difficulties etc. by all other standards I am a home student...

Hello @patiencesullivan,

That’s great to hear you are considering the University of Southampton! I’m currently studying psychology and have had the best time so far. There is lots to do both on campus and in the city, and there is a great sense of community within the university.

I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get much help with the interview situation. Can I ask who you contacted about it? If you haven’t already, it may be worth asking the admissions team or the student hub.

Good luck with the rest of your scholarship and I hope it works out for you!

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Poppy, 3rd Year Psychology

I think there are two different points. The first is your interview situation and the second is considering you as a home student for fee status.

You could be interviewed in the same way as international applicants being in China, but be considered as a Home student.

Make sure that your unis have it clear because of the residency rules for home fees.
