Holidayssss

How much holiday does everyone get in uni?

Hi there,

At university, you’ll usually get time off over Christmas and Easter, but there aren’t any half-term breaks like at school.

Some universities have a Reading Week, which is a week without lectures, usually scheduled so lecturers can attend graduation ceremonies for the previous cohort. You’re given time off from lectures, but there’s still an expectation that you’ll complete some set work independently. You can spend the rest of your time as you like for example, going on holiday.

At my undergrad uni, we had one Reading Week in November, whereas at my current university there are two Reading Weeks one in November and one in March. How many weeks you get off depends on the university and potentially how many graduation weeks there are.

You’ll also have the summer off, unless you’re a postgraduate student.

Hope that helps!
