Waiting time for DSA & problems

I’m a mature postgraduate student with long term mental health difficulties, PMDD & also working diagnosis of autism. My course began a few weeks ago & im really enjoying it, but the workload is very intense, & I am concerned about not having any support in place through DSA, and how much longer this could take.

The process has been very time consuming as I had to wait several weeks for the GP to complete the supporting information form during the summer, & it was also delayed by other things & getting other info from uni etc. I sent the form off finally at beginning of September. In the last week or two DSA have sent several emails saying information form my uni was missing, which it wasn’t as they had completed the section, & asking me to sign other forms again. The communications seem really disjointed & I’m just so confused by the whole process & how much longer it could be? I am really concerned it will be a much longer wait to have an assessment and get anywhere. It also just all seems so inaccessible as a disabled student & I wondered how others had coped.

Your university should be putting measures in place to support you whilst you wait for DSA. Have you spoken to the disability team?

Speak to the disability team about interim measures and get them to ring DSA to confirm they have everything they need.
