Funding availability for Second PGCE?

Hello,
I have a quite complex situation in that I was previously enrolled in a PGCE primary course which I sadly did not gain QTS from as I failed due to poor health affecting my ability to complete several aspects of the course.

However, I was remained enrolled of the course as I was engaging with as much as my health would allow.

I did not pass the course but am now in a better position health-wise and would like to apply to take the course again (obviously to gain QTS).

Would I be eligible for student loan funding to complete this course?

Thanks

Just wanted to add for clarity - while I completed the course, I did not pass and so did not gain QTS.

Hi Spira,

Have you only completed one year of your PGCE? When did you previously study and when would you want to return to study? Would you be repeating the year or is it a new course? Can you also confirm the name of the university you want to attend, the full name of the course and how long does the course last?

Thanks, Drew

Hi Drew,
Yes I’ve only done one year - that was 2023-2024. I’d be starting a new course at a different university but the course title is the same - PGCE Primary.

I previously studied at UCL IoE but I’m looking to study at Roehampton university, the course lasts a year.

Thank you

Hi there, students can receive funding for a second PGCE course of two years or less providing they did not gain QTS from their previous course. Funding would consist of a Tuition Fee Loan, a Maintenance Loan (as well as supplementary grants and/or DSAs where applicable) for the full course, and one repeat year. Stephen
