Need help, failed dissertation

I wanted to know if Universities allow you to resubmit Masters dissertation if you fail it the first time. Im an international student and my student visa expires at the end of january 2026, do the unis allow you resubmmison before this timeframe? I will talk to my student union and uni professors but i wanted to know if any one of yall have faced this...

I would recommend contacting your module leader ASAP as you’ve not specified your university and so based on that, I would not be able to advise as I don’t know the university’s regulations.

I do however know that individuals who failed some modules (albeit I am unsure if anyone failed their diss) but managed to graduate with a diploma or a certificate but not with the degree itself (this happened to a few individuals from my Masters course last year (23-24 academic year) as when I looked on the courses list telling people what they got (as in degree, not classification), I noticed it said some people graduated with certificates as opposed to the degree.

Wishing you the best of luck!

I have not failed any other modules infact i have a good record of scoring 60-80% in all other modules. I know some people from my class who have failed their dissertation as well and especially know 2 more people who failed and were assigned to the same project supervisor as me. This was a normal first time submission, I submitted the dissertation in early september and got the results just yesterday, however the professor has not given any comments or feedback on the uni portal. I know university has a board meeting after the results where they decide about the resits. I will contact the program leader and let them know. I just hope they allow resit/reassessment before my student visa expires.
Im kinda scared and clueless about what to do next
