What did you think of the LNAT?

Hey everyone, I sat my LNAT exam today woohoo!! Im so relieved to be done with prep and stress.

I’m still not confident in my application.. I am only predicted A*AB for Literature, biology, chemistry… My Personal statement is really strong and unique I feel like that could be the decider..

As for the LNAT, I am aiming for 30+ on the MCQ and a strong essay. I found the extracts really nice and I actually quite enjoyed reading some of them! I completely ran out of time on the essay section; I scrambled a conclusion together with 5 seconds on the clock, so unfortunately I didn’t have time for proofreading!! 😬 I chose option 2! Feel like I made some good points with a good intro.. but we’ll see what the unis think to it!!

I know I’m an idiot to applying to such aspirational Universities with my predicted grades but guys its okay theres always clearing😛😭
Im applying to KCL, Durham, Bristol, Nottingham for Law LLB and then Royal Holloway for Law with Politics with placement year!!

Why am I excited to continue my A Level journey, I feel optimistic for once, just need to work on passing chem🤭

Good luck with your applications everyone, I hope everything is going to plan 💗

Hii,
I did my LNAT on Saturday!!! I thought the first half of the mcq section was kind of evil tbh but we power through.

The essay was okayyy i think? I did the 1st one.

My predicted is A*A*A* and A* in epq and my ps is pretty decent but ig could be a little bit better imo but like idk

Let's hope we're both successful!

Heyy!!!

I sat mine yesterday and after preparing so abstractly for so many months, it felt like being pushed into cold water before you're ready to jump. MCQ were okayish for me, a few of them I didn't have enough time to really be 100% sure so I had to pick the first best but 3 or 4 felt quite obvious? The timing was actually evil how do you expect us to be able to clock all that info in like 8 minutes 💔 💔 I did the first essay prompt but I only had 2 arguments so ion know if that's a big knockdown. My essay was more condensed I guess but i really liked all of the questions.
I also spent the literal last 5 seconds writing my final sentence. Deadass I thought I wasn't gonna make it in time and miss out a letter or something. There are probably so many scattered letters in that essay sigh.

What did you think of the passages?

Hello! KCL and Bristol barely look at personal statement so the LNAT is the main decider. Try to have a backup (Holloway is perfect!). The LNAT is genuinely a hard exam and getting a 30/42 is indeed hard but very doable with practice.

Omg no!! I do agree with you some of them felt like the answers werent even in the passage; im still raging at the one about the guy with hearing loss and how many octaves he can hear Huh?? I could not find that answer😂😂
Timing is awful, it feels like ages until youre over halfway though your time and only on question 20😬
I’m obsessively checking my UCAS and email for offers rn, I’m crashing out😂
Passages were okay! Some were tricky but others were interesting, I enjoyed the passage about grammar police😂

Interesting how the passages are different for every person - the best thing we can do now is pretend it never happened cause you can’t change anything by worrying, but that’s like the hardest part </3

Heyyy, I completely understand why you are freaking out about the LNAT, i was the same, but try not to stress too much. A bit of nerves is normal and it doesn’t mean you will do badly. The test is just MCQ and then the essay. For the mcq, focus on understanding arguments, spotting assumptions, and noticing flaws in reasoning. What i did was broke the passages into sections and scanned each section for any clues for the question!!
For the essay, it’s more about clear thinking and structure than trying to say everything! Choose your best points and youre good to go.
Ensure you include a strong counter argument!!
(Mine was really weak unfortunately)
Make sure u do some practice papers under timed conditions so you get used to the pace and review your answers to understand why the correct options work.
For the essay, pick a topic you feel comfortable explaining, keep your points clear and logical with examples, and aim for a short structured essay rather than trying to say everything.
On test day, get a good night’s sleep, eat properly, and don’t spend too long on tricky questions. Also drink before you go into the test room as youre not allowed to take it with you, of course you can leave to get a drink but I’m sure you wont want to lose any time. They also give you earplugs and noise cancelling headphones!!

Lots of people do better than they expect. Even if you don’t know everything, clear reasoning will take you far 💛

OMG... just looking through this thread now and i was cursed with that octave question too :'( Why was there some weird (but non-existent) maths?? Also, have you heard from Bristol? I have seen a few people getting law offers.

I’m yet to do my lnat - have it booked for next month - but does this mean that I’m less likely to get an offer if slots are already being taken up by people who have already done their lnat and got offers?

No def not! They have the equal consideration deadline for a reason, if you submit your application then you will have the same chance of getting in as now. You can look on freedom of information site and type in law and the different unis and date of offers and you can see they give out offers throughout the year!!

Your grades are awesome! Good luck with everything. As for me, I’ve not applied yet - planning on doing that over half term now.
