Resit student here! I am so stressed!!!

Hello everyone, For context, I'm a resit student, I achieved DDB initially in my a-levels. I am resitting this year and I'm only resitting the subjects I got a D in. So this is the part I am super stressed about. My school had told me that they will just put in my achieved grades in UCAS so I had found a tuition centre that does UCAS predicted grades, the thing is I have to do an As-level exam for them to give me a grade and that they will predict me up and that in total is around £450. I'm alright with doing the exam and paying that amount BUT I had heard that most universities, specifically russell group universities more so fixate over your achieved grades over your predicted ones. It's really stressing me out since the course I want to do requires AAB and I know I can get predicted to those As since 1 am averaging much higher in my papers but the problem is I am going to be paying so much money for my predicteds and on top of that also for my exam fees that I don't want it to go to waste. I don't know what to do, I'm really stressed out and I know I have clearing as a choice but I don't want to heavily depend on clearing. Ughhh I hate this so much.

For me, while I didnt resits didnt believe my predicted grades represented my potential, I had a good relationship with my form tutor and he changed them, is it possible one of your teachers could write you a recommendation, also while UCAS is easier, you can independently apply to universities where a letter of reference may be more suitable! I dont believe you should have to pay that amount and take necessary assessments for a true representation of your potential.

Hi there, I'm resitting too, i got almost the exact same grades as you and am also only resitting the Ds. I can't help much with what to do as I am luckily getting predicted grades from a tutor and school separately. What course and universities are you applying to? have you thought about emailing each one to find out if they take re sits and how much focus they put on predicted grades?

Hey! @diorama82 completely understandable that you're feeling stressed, resitting and going through all of the admin stuff can feel really overwhelming, especially when you're putting in the effort to improve your grades. You're definitely not along in this.
You're ight achieved grades are taken into account but predicted grades are still really important.
It may be worth:

Checking if your school could reconsider adding a predicted grade if you show them recent work or progress.

Also before paying if you choose to making sure the tuition centre's prediction will be officially recognised by UCAS, in terms of they'll enter through a reference and not just a letter you send)

Also make sure universities you're interested in if they accept resit applicants for the course you are applying for.

fellow resit student here - who litch got the same as you 💀but i’m resitting all three. I plan on applying to top unis this year and every one which i have emailed doesn’t have a problem with me resitting and said they’ll consider my application as the same as the others. for predicted grades you can defo find cheaper like tutors and futures do £200 for one subject which is better than that

Hey, I did the same thing with architecture! UCL is my dream Uni. They said a similar thing to me. Are you thinking of getting any tutors for any subjects? because my school told me that my tutor could give me a predicted grade for maths, one of the subjects Im resitting.
