When do we get our maintenance loan if we started on 4th October (Open University)?

Hi everyone 👋

I’ve just started my Open University course on the 4th of October, and I’m trying to figure out when Student Finance releases the maintenance loan.

Does anyone know roughly how long after enrolment confirmation the payment is made?
I’m fully registered and waiting for the OU to confirm my attendance to Student Finance, but I’m not sure how long that usually takes.

Would be great to hear from anyone who started around the same date — when did your OU confirmation and payment come through?

Hi there,

Have you applied for a Maintenance Loan and has it been approved? Did you send us a Medical Declaration form to apply for the Maintenance Loan?

Hi DJAndaz89,

You would be best speaking to the university directly and requesting that they send the confirmation of registration through electronically. Once they send this, it automatically updates within 1-3 working days then around 3 working days for the payment due to arrive in your bank.

Thanks for your reply. Open university are saying it’s a 6-8 weeks period to confirm enrolment but my SFE letter states 20th October for maintenance loan payment. Online account shows as awaiting confirmation of enrolment.

When it comes to Confirmation of Registration, it's entirely up to the Open University to decide when to send it.

Rest assured, we'll release the payment as soon as they do, but if they've confirmed it will take several weeks then that's up to them. Please continue to check your payment schedule for any updates.
