Materials Science and engineering @ Imperial 2026

Hey, i’m planning on applying to imperial for materials science and engineering but will be applying later so i’m not an early applicant

Hey! What are your predicted grades and what super-curriculars have you done?

Hey guys! Just wanted to make a thread of applicants applying to start this course in 2026 and ask if anyone has sent in their application or received any interview dates yet! Thanks!!

I’m predicted A*AA in Maths, Physics and Geography. In terms of super curriculars I don’t have many it’s mainly books i’ve read and I did a project focused on how waterproof materials work for Physics. Hbu? also where else did you apply?

Hey! I sent my application on the 12th so I haven't got anything back as of yet lol but Imperial is my top choice!!

i’m thinking of applying to imperial, UCL (Science and Engineering for social change), Loughborough and Sheffield. I’m struggling to choose a 5th because none of the other unis that do materials science and engineering intrigue me (Birmingham, Swansea etc) any ideas?

hey, what courses are you applying for at kings and warwick? im also applying for mat sci at imperial!

Hey , i suggest you choosing a safe as your 5th option, for eg something with ABB perhaps? My loughborough course entry requirements are ABB so it is a nice safe option!

my loughborough application will also be ABB hence making it my safety. But i’m also a resit student and loughborough was my firm last year but for aeronautical engineering but I didn’t want to do aeronautical anymore plus I didn’t like my grades. So for me i’m applying for loughborough purely for the safety and I don’t think I will go there.

omg yes im super scared too! Im predicted A*A*A* in physics chem maths and im applying to oxford (no hope here either lol), Imperial, Manchester, Sheffield, and Birmingham and I did a research project, summer school and some work exp in a lab, along with reading articles etc!!
