How do you write History Higher Evaluation

e.g for the KKK in Obstacles to Black Civil Rights

There's two types of evaluation, evaluation and evaluation+. You can get a maximum of two marks for each throughout your essay (four marks in total).

'Simple' evaluation is when you sum up why the factor you're talking about is important. E.g., Overall, the KKK was a significant obstacle to Black Civil Rights as [insert new fact/historical quote].

Evaluation+ is when you explain why one factor was the most important or why it was less important than another factor. E.g., In evaluation, whilst the KKK was a significant obstacle to Black Civil Rights, it was less important than (whatever factor you think is most important because [insert new fact/historical quote to do with the KKK and it's lack of significance].

I recommend that you go on to the Understanding Standards website (link below) and look at the example essays that they have on there. That's what really helped me get the hang of it. I think it was Candidate 1 of British, European, and World History that got evaluation marks. The commentaries are what you should read as they break down how and where the candidate got the marks.
