How are the weekly Oxbridge essays done?

How are the weekly Oxbridge essays done?

I have heard that in Oxbridge they have the students (at least in humanities/social science) do an essay a week. Basically, how does this work? Is it based on one of the modules? Is it based on a combination of the work done that week? Does everyone get the same question - is there a choice?

If someone could give a specific example of it that would be great!
