should i do a gap year for aerospace eng

i was predicted A*A*A at the end of year 12 but recently over the summer i got really ill and and with my new grades I'm predicted ABC. my school won't let my grades get hack to what they were so i was wondering if i should do a gap year before applying to universities because a lot of the ones i want to apply to are AAA at the minimum. but im not sure on what I'd do during a gap year apart from working. id appreciate any advice and suggestions on what I should do

First of all, you should contact the universities individually to see what they recommend given your specific circumstances. Generally universities are happy for you to take a gap year and apply with achieved grades, but some are less keen, particularly for maths heavy courses.

If you do decide to take a gap year, I'd recommend doing something in your gap year to keep your maths skills in particular up. In my case, I worked during my gap year, but I also tutored maths and sciences and self studied an additional maths module for further maths that my school hadn't covered.
