Advice on Dissertation Grade Review (got 69.3%)

I recently received my dissertation results and noted that I obtained 69 for my written thesis and 72 for the oral presentation, resulting in an overall mark of 69.3, which appears as 69 on my progress report. As this is very close to the distinction threshold, I would be very thankful to know whether it might be possible to request a review or confirm that all marks and calculations were processed correctly.

I had hoped my work might reach the distinction level. This dissertation was my first independent research experience, and I carried out data collection from 100 households in Sri Lanka within a very short period. I also independently studied quantitative methods, including regression analysis, to support my analysis, and followed scientific research procedures throughout.

I would also like to mention that the university is aware of my difficult personal circumstances during this period, including financial stress and associated wellbeing issues, which were reported through the appropriate channels. Despite these challenges, I worked diligently and put in my best effort to produce quality work.

I would deeply appreciate your advice on whether, under these circumstances, it would be appropriate to request a review of my mark or if any further steps are available to me within the assessment process. Thank you

They may well still calibrate it and the computer could class this as a 70 once all the other grades for your other modules are in. When you say it's a 'progress' report, is that the final report or something in between?

All marking decisions are final - unless you can demonstrate that they misunderstood something, or skipped out a page when they were marking...most places will not take kindly to a request to re-mark. Did you apply for mitigating circumstances (with regards to your personal circumstances), was that approved?
