do you work with mark by any chance?
to the OP: try any of the high street shops... boots or debenhams maybe? or the big tesco would probably be a good bet.
When i was looking for a job i gave my cv to two places (one being some 'papa sanchos' grill place, which i thought was gonna be a bar job so quit after my trial!) and the other place is the place that i really wanted to work at - my favourite bar in swansea - monkey bar! If you just walk around with your CV you should find something.
Also - if you ask in the student spar shops/costa/SUs at the beginning of term then you might be in with a chance, but unless you get in at the start i think that's pretty impossible to get into later in the year...

Oh great, thanks for the advice... (+rep) I shall try to apply for a job throughout Freshers to bat of the competition.
Ha long time ago but...did you manage to find a job? How's Swansea treating you?
What a coincidence Well I had my first day in training at Boots in the Quadrant Centre today, I'm a sales advisor in the Christmas section on the first floor with all the lovely beauty products etc... It's really convenient because I live in the Marina (near Sainsburys) so it's only 15 minute walk away. Swansea is fantastic! I love it. XD The course requires a heck of a lot of reading but hey that's History for you. So what course are you doing? Are you in your seconed year?

Oooh cool, i was thinking of applying there, do you know what their rules are about working over the actual christmas period? Because i need to go home for the actual christmassy bits obvs
I'm studying english lit and yeah in second year, it's awesome! Are you in the history society? My housemate is secretary for the society and it's supposedly awesome! Haha.
So did you enjoy your first day? I'm so applying tonight!

Yes I certainly am in the History Society It's a fantastic soc! Of to London next month and Rome with then over the Easter break. Oooo is your roomie the lovely Charlotte Britton?
Yes, my first day was fantastic thank you. I enjoyed it very much. The staff is lovely and the Christmas atmosphere is bringing a 'buzz' in the air XD
Hmm not to sure about the 'Christmas rules' people they don't apply to me. Have you applied yet? x
I'm a bit late to add to this thread but I will anyway because I'm bored. I'm a fresher and I'd say unless you're finding a job at the start of the term you're going to struggle. I haven't got a 'job' in the sense that I go to work and do a 6-11 or whatever, I just have a few little money spinners. I officiate basketball games about 3 times a week which is £10 a time, I play some poker and next week I'm having photos of my ugly mug taken to go in next years prospectus (I don't know how much I'll get but I get something.)
If you're qualified to do something especially sporting stuff go and find someone who organises events and see if you can get your foot in the door.

Yeah that's the one! She's awesome.
I did apply for boots but they sent me an email back within the hour rejecting me...i thought maybe it was that they are full rather than i was **** because i have a lot of retail experience!
Still going well then? I have an interview for schuh tomorrow...i'm slightly nervous! No idea what to wear!
