Linguistics - is it worth it?

Hi everyone,
I'm doing a bit of research as to what degree to do, as I am in year 12 (I do spanish, psychology and politics)
For a few months now, I have been fascinated by linguistics.
Ideally, I would love to do linguistics and spanish at uni, however after doing some reading, it seems as though linguistics is a very niche degree, and is not popular within the job market.
Would it be worth doing a degree such as linguistics and politics, politics and spanish, or anything similar?
Thanks

what about psychology with linguistics? there are also a few unis that allow you to continue studying a language for free alongside your degree and if you took a degree with a placement year or work experience modules or study abroad you could have an immersion year in Spanish?

You could apply to the majority of grad schemes with linguistics. Employers tend not to care about the subject you studied. They care more about your transferrable skills, and your work/placement/internship experience.

Just finished an undergrad in Linguistics and French, really enjoyed the course. I'd agree it's pretty niche, but that, combined with a work placement during year abroad has been really helpful. If you're not sure what kind of career you want but find sudying a broad range of concepts, I'd say go for it

Hi, I know this is nothing about your post but I am wanting to pick psychology and Spanish a level and have not seen anyone talk about them together. Do you think they are good subjects to be taken together and is Spanish a good subject to take even if you are not a native speaker (I am very worried of grade boundaries being high)? Thank you!
