Oxford vs Cambridge Engineering

Hi!

As someone passionate about studying engineering, I would like to try to apply for Oxbridge and have been doing some research.
Can anyone please provide some insight on the differences between Oxford and Cambridge, ideally specific to the engineering/engineering science course and advice on which one to go for.
Thanks

I would look elsewhere - they don't offer pacement years and the courses are not best suited to work as an Engineer.

RG is totally irrelevant for Engineering ..

Ok thank you for replying. I understand that it doesn’t specialise in engineering but I thought perhaps with the weight the name carries it would still be a good uni to attend. Can you perhaps suggest other alternatives or something you would advise to look out for (for example the placements)?

Bath has a good placement scheme, as does Loughborough. If Electric Vehicles/Motorsport is of interest then Oxford Brookes.

Many non-RG have courses that are geared to working as an Engineer and it's best to have work experience.

The biggest differences between the two are in their specific research groups, this will be more related to some of the optional modules towards the end of the degree & the options you have for your dissertation (research project completed in year 3 or 4). This will also impact opportunities with companies, often university research partnerships can be great ways to build a relationship with a potential employer if you do a research project with them or if you’re interested in a PhD can be a path to a professional sponsored position.

On the whole the institutions are largely very similar, and there engineering programs are more closely resemblant than of other engineering programs.
