Can I still get into University of Birmingham with a Foundation Year?

I’m currently doing a Law foundation year at Birmingham City University, but I’ll be honest, I don’t really like it here. My dream uni has always been the University of Birmingham, but I didn’t get the grades I wanted at A level (C in English, E in Computer Science, and U in Physics). My predicted grades were ABC, so I’m still not sure what went wrong in the exams at all, it was painful opening up that envelope on results day to see that all my hard work meant nothing. I was also dealing with a bit of illness at the time but I cannot believe that would’ve impacted my grades as much.

I know UoB’s Law school doesn’t accept transfers, but I emailed the Head of Government, and she actually forwarded my message to the Assistant Head to reply to me, which gave me a bit of hope. I’m mainly interested in their Politics and Philosophy (PPL) or Politics and International Relations courses now, since I’ve realised I’m more drawn to those areas than straight Law.

My question is:
- Has anyone here managed to get into UoB (or a similar uni) after doing a foundation year elsewhere?
- Would they consider me for Year 1 entry if I do really well this year (since foundation is Level 3)? Or maybe for Year 2 if I succeed in Year 1?
- And would my foundation year grades matter more than my A levels in this case?

I just don’t want to get my hopes up too high, but I really want this. UoB has always been my goal, and I’m just trying to figure out if there’s still a realistic path to get there.

Any advice or personal experiences would mean a lot
